CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
MUSIC MEN RUINED FOR ME zine: PART 2

Hello! This is the call for submissions for a second installment of a zine about men who have ruined music for people. If you are a person who has a story about a man ruining music for you, I would like to hear about it !

These can be relationship stories (stories about current partners, stories about exes) stories about men you were once/are still friends with, stories from band practice, stories from parties, stories from shows, stories about families, stories about violence, stories about sadness and fury. These can also be very funny stories and happy stories about friends and community, and loving music in spite of it all.
Rants are always good!

In the previous zine, people shared stories about bands/artists like Rush (Neil Peart RIP), Tool, Feist, Carly Rae Jepsen, Outkast, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, My Chemical Romance, Metallica, Radiohead, The Descendents, Nirvana, Grizzly Bear, Frank Zappa, the Magnetic Fields, Depeche Mode, Anagram, Beck, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, and the entire genre of jazz. There were also stories about people starting their own bands to spite men. We also love these types of stories.

This is only a reference to get you started, though. Write about whatever you want! There is a constellation of artists/bands out there that certain men love to claim. Take them back!

I will accept submissions in a variety of formats. Stories, poems, emails, illustrations, comics, collages, Facebook threads, tweets, text message screencaps, one-person monologues, etc. If you have questions, just ask!

Submissions will be accepted across any and all social media channels.

I am particularly interested in supporting submissions from Black people, Indigenous people and people of colour and people who identify as LGBTQI and/or non-binary. I am also particularly interested in stories from people who work in music communities (musicians, DJs, teachers, MCs, roadies, sound techs, photographers, programmers, engineers, music journalists, fanzine makers, promoters, venue owners and managers, poster designers, etc etc).

All submissions are worthy, insightful and important regardless of writing style or length and I will read them carefully.

You can see screencaps from the previous zine here. The previous zine was covered in She Does the City and NOW Magazine. Feel free to read more to get an idea of what you might want to share.

Anonymous submissions are fine. Please indicate this clearly in your submission.
NOTE: This is not a paid opportunity.  However all contribs will receive free mailed copies of zine upon completion.
